OUR CENTRE

Together with members of our community, PCSBV is committed to develop a Centre that provides compassionate care and support at every stage of the palliative journey: from diagnosis, living well, and end of life. And throughout, the Centre will be a place to work through the grief and loss that will be experienced by all.

A living embodiment of the values that PCSBV holds dear - dignity, care, and excellence - the Centre will be a peaceful and welcoming haven; a place to sit quietly, embraced by warm smiles, surrounded by soft shoulders and good listeners. It will be a familiar space for clients and their loved ones to seek support as they focus on wellness and quality of life. It will be a home away from home, offering a place of refuge to ease anxiety or fear at end of life.

Light will permeate the building connecting all of those in the space with the beautiful surroundings and Bow Valley nature, providing opportunities to seamlessly move between the inside and outside.

The Centre will be home to Palliative Care Day Programs including spaces to meet with volunteers and practitioners and participate in therapeutic programs such as music, art, and wellness. It will offer respite care including two specially adapted spa bathing rooms to ease pain and soothe anxiety. The Hospice will have eight private suites each designed with the right balance of light, warmth, and comfort, to provide overnight and longer-term respite. And when the time comes, the Hospice will be a peaceful place for expert end of life care and ongoing compassionate support for loved ones.

Planning and design for the Centre is underway, working closely with landowners Jan & Bernie McCaffery and the Town of Canmore. We look forward to sharing updates as we advance our Centre’s development.

The land is an incredible gift by the McCaffery’s for which we are very grateful. We are honoured by the generosity of our donors who share our vision and have stepped forward with significant support. We still have a long way to go. Together with your investment, we will bring this vision of compassion to life, providing access to vital programs, services, and care for our families, friends, and neighbours in our Bow Valley community.
